When Mr love once knocked on these doors
I opened them with creaking hesitancy
To eyes full of wrinkles and skin in shackles
You’ve come a generation late I said
In bespectacled smile of my toothless sing song
Tidy up your hair he said...
Cheer up that frown...
Let me take a look at that face grown so brown
With tenderness of the bud I unfurled
Into arms so soft..and wept in the rhapsody of
Love that came in an age too late...
The flowers had fallen, the leaves all but yellow...
The girl you grew in love and with love..misty eyed & creaking yet
And yet the birds they sing and rainbows they spring too in backyards old..
In eyes that dream of dreamers still
Some dreamers lie but tender still...

Ah, an update to "Dreamers still.."
(November 2, 2010)
This is beautiful how you finished the original.
I super loved this poem.. Speaks for a million women now.. wow!
this is so sweet... love can never come too late, you know. it happens when it is least expected no matter what your age is. it is made sweeter when you find again a lost love. :)
Heartbreaking and yet somehow beautiful.
well delivered sentiments,
love knocks the door,
smiles will make you dance on the floor...
welcome back.
Happy Mother's Day to Moms around you. Blessings..

LOVE...isn't that what we all crave in life, regardless of age, time or distance? It's never too late to love.
Beautifully expressed.
Thanks for sharing.

I enjoyed this a lot - and can relate to it, especially the middle bit.

Beautiful it makes me think of my mom and stepdad large age difference but they growing old together and deeply in love =)
How well expressed! Nice thoughts. Like yellow leaves turning green again. Like dead hopes sprouting afresh again! :)
